Position Description: We are looking for a Natural Gas Engineer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field), and have seven to fifteen years of similar work experience. Michigan natural gas utility experience and a Professional Engineer License is preferred. The candidate must also be self‑motivated, work well with others, and have excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. A flexible hybrid‑remote work schedule is available after 30 days of employment. Typical responsibilities include: Design detailed gas distribution systems Design medium, standard, high pressure steel and plastic gas mains and services Vertical and horizontal alignment creation Design regulator stations/districts Compression station design experience is a plus Horizontal directional drill (HDD) modeling is a plus Complete applicable design calculations Prepare installation drawings and specifications/notes Coordinate preparation of specifications and permit submittals Prepare preliminary project cost estimates and evaluate quantities Assist with/review scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks Monitor task budget and progress Work with and mentor junior design team Document design changes and communications Conduct on‑site inspections as needed Prepare project status and other reports Assist in the preparation of proposals Assist and develop into a Project Manager Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre‑construction, etc. Attend seminars and/or training classes Maintain excellent client relations Maintain a safe working environment Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related engineering field) is required. Skills/Experience: 7-15 plus years of experience in natural gas distribution systems/design, natural gas infrastructure, regulator station design, high pressure steel, compression and government regulations is required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Some travel will be required ( Experience with Microstation and GIS is preferred.
