Description The City of Marysville is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Sanitation Worker. The position performs essential manual labor for the city, primarily focusing on yard waste collection and critical maintenance tasks. This role requires operating light to heavy equipment and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our city. The schedule is a standard 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday, but may occasionally require the ability to work up to 16 hours in a single shift during city-wide snow removal operations.
Job Responsibilities Collection and Maintenance: Collects yard waste on assigned routes, operates yard waste collection trucks, and performs daily vehicle maintenance checks. Also performs leaf collection and litter control.
Equipment Operation: Safely operates various equipment including small dump trucks, backhoes, skid loaders, chippers, street sweepers, front-end loaders, chain saws, and mowers.
Customer Service: Responds professionally to citizens' complaints and special needs, including performing yard service for disabled or elderly residents.
Safety & Traffic Control: Sets safety cones and directs traffic around work sites to ensure a safe environment for citizens and co-workers.
Emergency Response: Participates in emergency maintenance tasks, including snow removal during inclement weather, which may require overtime, weekends, and holiday work.
Supervision: May be assigned to supervise part-time staff or community service workers.
Job Requirements - 18 years of age or older
- High School Graduate or GED
- Valid Ohio Driver's License Class A-CDL (or able to obtain one within 12 months of hire)
- Must be able to demonstrate predictable and reliable attendance
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (hot and/or cold temperatures, rain, sleet, dust, and snow - within reason)
- Prior experience in sanitation, construction, or municipal work is a plus
Supplemental Information Starting hourly rate is $27.30 per hour (position range is $27.30 - $32.68) with a robust benefits package.
